Their St. Patrick’s Day recipes include green milkshakes livened up with Irish whiskey, as well as flavorful rosemary sea-salt tots and malt vinegar dipper. Even if you’re spending St. Patrick’s Day at home this year, you can still have a little festive taste of the luck of the Irish with these easy holiday recipes.
Rachael Ray and Clodagh McKenna’s Boozy Milkshakes
McKenna has appeared on The Rachael Ray Show many times, and it’s no surprise: She’s frequently referred to as “the Irish Rachael Ray” due to her warm, approachable demeanor and tasty comfort food recipes you can whip up easily at home.
In 2020, McKenna shared some St. Paddy’s Day recipes with Grant W. Melton and Jeanette Donnarumma on a Facebook Live episode of The Rachael Ray Show.
If you’re looking for an easy Emerald Isle-inspired treat this St. Patrick’s Day, these boozy milkshakes are your best bet. They’re perfect for a whiskey-soaked at-home St. Paddy’s Day 2021 celebration in quarantine. Or, if you’d prefer, you can make them without the booze for a more family-friendly dessert.
Boozy Milkshake Ingredients:
- 4 cups of mint chocolate chip ice cream (the green kind!)
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 4 shots of Irish whiskey
- Whipped cream, for garnish
- Mini chocolate chips, for garnish
- 4 maraschino cherries, for garnish
First, blend the mint chocolate chip ice cream and milk. Next, add the Irish whiskey to the blender and mix well. Pour the milkshakes into glasses. Garnish with cherries, mini chocolate chips, and whipped cream as desired. This recipe makes four servings.

Rosemary Sea-Salt Tots
In another St. Patrick’s Day appearance on The Rachael Ray Show in 2017, McKenna shared another tasty recipe – this time for craveable rosemary sea-salt tots. All you’ll need to make this delicious kid-friendly side or appetizer is the bag of frozen tater tots you probably already have in your freezer, as well as some rosemary and salt.
Rosemary Sea-Salt Tot Ingredients:
- One 2-pound bag of tater tots
- 3 sprigs of fresh rosemary, stemmed and chopped
- ½ teaspoon of flaky sea salt
First, prepare the tater tots in the oven as described on the packaging instructions. (McKenna notes that you can add some grated cheese if you prefer cheesy tots.) Next, season the tots generously with the sea salt and fresh rosemary.
Malt Vinegar Dipper
The last step to making your St. Patrick’s Day tots extra delicious is to dip them in McKenna’s signature malt vinegar dipper. Like the other festive recipes from McKenna and Ray, it’s super simple and quick.
Malt Vinegar Dipper Ingredients:
- ½ cup of sour cream
- 2 teaspoons of Dijon mustard
- 2 teaspoons of malt vinegar
- Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Simply mix the sour cream, malt vinegar, and mustard together in your perfect dipping bowl and add salt and pepper and desired. Dip and enjoy!
