Jaaie’s Easter cupcakes

JAAIE SHAH, 11

Baking inspo
My father! He used to bake on the weekends when I was younger and I became his little sous chef in the last couple of years. At 7 years old, I began baking independently, and professionally, I started during lockdown last year.

Baking is love
Oh, I can’t spend a day without baking, it is my passion. The fun part for me is the decoration/ garnishing. I love baking cupcakes and brownies the most.

Challenge yourself
Sometimes, while experimenting, the whole dish would go into trash, but baking requires a lot of patience. I bake everything without fondant and food colour, so for me to make my baking to look attractive is a challenge. Also, I baked 200 cupcakes in 11 hours – which was the biggest challenge; I earned an India Book of Record as well as an Asia Book Record for it.

Ultimate dessert
Homemade desserts, because these are freshly made. I always look for something surprising inside, so I would say desserts with secret ingredient, which people cannot see but feel once in the mouth.

Easter goodies
I have made Easter-themed cupcakes as kids would enjoy seeing them and having them. I also love ‘stealing’ eggs from cupcakes.

Farhat-Amna’s Clumsy Easter Bunny Cake

AMNA NADIA SALAM, 15 | FARHAT NADIA SALAM, 19

Baking inspo
The sister-duo is very enthusiastic and passionate about doing something different in life. Amna started baking at the age of 9 and did not take any formal learning or classes, while Farhat is good at managing and marketing. As schools and colleges were shut due to the pandemic last year, they made the best use of their time and launched their first YouTube video. Amna is a baker and Farhat handles the management of the business.

Baking is love
Baking is fun because it brings the best out of you. The creativity, passion and talent make it more interesting and fun. Amna loves baking fondant-theme cakes and cookies and Farhat loves working with chocolates and cakesicles.

Ultimate dessert
Brookies — it is a combination of cookie and brownie, which makes it more special. You can eat it with ice cream or by itself. It has chocolate chips with Nutella on top.

Easter goodies
We have baked Clumsy Easter Bunny Cake with a touch of pineapple, and Easter Cakesicles.

Recipe for Cakesicles
You can even make cakesicles using cake crumbs. Take cake crumbs and shape it into ice creams and cover it with melted chocolate. Decorate with gems and chocolates.

Jenvi’s oh-so-yum dessert platter

JENVI MEHTA, 18

Baking inspo
It started out as a hobby, and soon turned into passion. The first time I baked for people was during Rakshabandhan, where I gave out cake jar hampers to family and friends. They all loved the jars and soon due to word-of-mouth, more queries came in. I ended up selling 130 jar hampers!

Baking is love
I love baking because that makes me creative. I like to interact with clients and serve them. The thing I love baking most is cakes because you can be very creative with it, give it any form and look. Each cake is different and has a story behind it.

Ultimate dessert
I have tried baking macrons and till now, it is very difficult to find eggless macrons and being a Jain baker, I wanted to make it eggless. Hopefully, I will come up with it soon.

Easter goodies
I made cupcakes that look like eggs in a nest to give the feel of Easter, colourful barks, Oreo cookies that look like macrons.

Diya’s Strawberry Swirl Easter Cupcakes

DIYA PATEL, 18

Baking inspo
It all started during the lockdown when I tried my hand at baking and realised it is something I am skilled at and enjoy, too. And my family encouraged me to take it up professionally.

Baking is love
Baking is fun because it is an opportunity to develop new skills or to work on existing ones. I love that baking can be broken down into many individual disciplines and learning opportunities, it is something for which I am passionate enough to make the time to keep trying and I automatically feel motivated about the final outcome.
